Monitoring flamingos across the BVI

NPTVI coordinated a Territory wide flamingo count in June 2023 as party of the new Darwin Local project, '‘Monitoring Caribbean flamingos in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) to facilitate improved conservation of wetland species and habitats’.

NPTVI staff counted at Josiah's Bay, Tortola and Anegada, plus private island owners at Necker Island and Guana Island counted at their ponds. This revealed a total of approximately 877 flamingos!
